Tips to Help Prepare For Your Boudoir Session

Your Eyes Tell A Story

Preparing for a boudoir photo session can be nerve racking! That’s why these tips are so important. Every person is beautiful in their own way. We all don’t look alike, or have the same personalities. These tip are simple and will go a long way to giving you the self confidence you need to look your best and to relax.

  1. Don’t schedule your session late in the day. Why? Several reasons. First, having a lot of time prior to the shoot simply gives you time to fill your mind with nervous thoughts. No need for that! Your session at Sheer Images will be fun, and positive for you! Many woman leave feeling empowered and better about themselves and the amazing, beautiful person they are.
  2. Think about the outfits prior and don’t pick too many. Yes, outfits are important, but what is more important is you. Choose outfits that flatter you. Outfits that you’re comfortable in. Outfits that you know your partner will enjoy. 2-3 outfits at the most is perfect. In picking outfits think about problem areas and make choices that don’t emphasize those. For example, a baggy button down shirt can be sexy and at the same time hide your tummy.
  3. Communicate with me. As your photographer my goal is not only to take great pictures technically, but to help you look your best. I’ll help you with posing and expressions. If you have a concern about a certain aspect of your body, it helps me to understand your concern. I’ll respond with poses and lighting that help to minimize those concerns. We work best as a team.
  4. Speaking of teams… Bring a friend. Bring someone who makes you laugh and someone you trust. Doing a boudoir or glamour session can be intimidating so a person you know and trust can be a huge support! Plus you’ll both have fun! You’re welcome to bring along your favorite beverage or snack and to celebrate you! Your friend can help you with outfits, hair and whatever you need.
  5. Makeup. Everyone has their own way of wearing makeup. Don’t deviate from that just for the photo session. You won’t feel comfortable. Just be careful to not overdo makeup. Lighting can sometimes exaggerate the look.
  6. Day of shooting. Make sure to get good rest the night before. You want to feel refreshed and ready for the day! As you prepare to leave make sure to dress with loose fitting clothes. You don’t want lines from clothes showing in photos. Of course some retouching on the images can help but it’s best to not need that.
  7. Have fun! When you are relaxed and enjoying the photo session it will show in your images. Your beautiful self can shine even more!
